I can’t easily put into words the blessings we have received by setting aside one Bible verse per year. We call it our Yearly Life Verse, its a focal point for us. We memorize it, study its context, learn everything we can about it. Before long, the verse begins to gain new depth and meaning to us as we internalize it, it becomes our “go to”. It’s a simple process, and I recommend it to anyone that wants to walk more closely with the Lord. Start with a prayer to be Spirit led to one verse that will change your life for the year. God will provide!
We started this in 2014, the following are the verses that have been our life verses since then.
2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full – pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father expect through me.”
